An Update on Ms. Olive

Olive was Anthony’s most loyal companion, and the same could be said of Anthony to Olive. We had a couple of dogs growing up while living with our Dad, but Olive was the first animal he got on his own.

To say Anthony loved her unconditionally is an understatement. He truly stuck with her through thick and thin.

The day he called me to discuss what to do when she became too aggressive while he and Ellen were climbing, he said he would not give up on her and would never put her down. He was going to take her to a special trainer and do everything he could to give Olive the best life. He knew she was a smart dog and could learn. He gave her a chance because he knew her potential.

She was always by his side, traveling, disc golfing, hiking, keeping him warm at night, you name it. He and Ellen taught her the coolest tricks, and he was always so proud of her. (Here is a cute video I took of Anthony and Olive while visiting him in Flagstaff one year during Christmas.)

Every time he came to Phoenix, we would take her to our park to play. He was always hesitant to bring her into our house since we have a zoo full of kids, dogs, and cats, but she was always there.

Today, I am so grateful to share that Olive is doing well and is still her smart self, just silver-faced and cute as ever. Ellen continues to be her Momma, loving and taking care of her unconditionally. I get photos of her regularly from Ellen and Olive's fun adventures.

She maintained consistency in Olive's life so that she could continue to do what she loved, and I am so thankful for that. Dogs have feelings, too, and I know Olive misses Anthony just like we do.
