Anthony and I were born in Bakersfield, California, and lived mainly in California until we were about 11 years old. We moved a lot so a positive was we also got to see a lot. We lived in So Cal in Santa Monica and Pasadena mainly, and then we moved up to Nor Cal to the Bay Area in Rohnert Park.
While we grew up with the bare minimum (and oftentimes even less) we grew up enjoying the simple things in life like playing at the beach, fighting off seagulls trying to eat our grapes, and flying kites in the crazy strong coastal winds.
Without things like phones and TV, we spent a lot of time outdoors. Which I think might be where Anthony developed his love of all things mother nature and adventure.
Visiting California this past week reminded me of a ton of memories that Anthony and me shared growing up. Not only our memories of playing at the beach, but catching frogs at the creek, and hugging giant trees.
I also got to visit Old Town San Diego which brought back a ton of memories of Anthony and me eating Mexican candy (the one we ate the most was Pelon which I may or may not be eating right now....) and playing hacky sac (he always showed me up, of course!)
I am so grateful for these memories and every time I visit California, I will think of Anthony!
Missing you lots and lots brother!
Love,
Megan
