Every time I go on a trip, I think of you a lot since traveling was one of your favorite things to do. I know you are traveling right there alongside me wherever I go. But on this recent trip about a week ago, you were extra present because I was headed to Vegas, which features also one of your favorite things to do... play some poker.
I still remember when the Meehan family was there in 2012 (I think that is when Jessica got married to husband #2...), I remember watching you play poker late at night and how serious you were. I think you had your sunglasses on for part of it, but I can't specifically remember (those were before my SmartPhone days and phone photos so I didn't capture history).
You were always so excited and hyped to play, but once you sat down, it was go time. You were not a serious person much, except when it came to poker, haha! I never remember you being a sore loser, though. You were just more and more competitive with each round but still cheered and high-fived me when I won.
Ever since we were kids and learned to play at Grandpa and Grandma Meehan's house, you loved playing 21, and we were always playing to pass the time. It was more than just playing cards for us though. It was a shared experience, a pastime that deepened our connection (I know so sappy, but true).
While I didn't gamble while I was in Vegas cuz, well I suck, and I don't have money to gamble, and I didn't have a drink cuz I stopped drinking several months ago, I did stop by the VIP poker room being that my hotel room was of course on the 21st floor and your name kept calling! Each time I caught a glimpse of the number 21 throughout the hotel, it felt as though you were trying to communicate. I 100% felt you at lucky table 7. And, of course, when I am getting ready to fly back to Phoenix, I happen to look down at my phone and see 11:11. Hey, Anthony!
