Hello friends and family,
I wanted to give an update on the petition for Anthony and making highway 89a safer.
After the AZ Family story aired (thanks to Mason Carroll and Collin Vanderwerf), our petition signatures grew by hundreds.
Since then, I have been in conversations with ADOT over the past month and here is what is currently agreed to with their engineers:
Installing new side road intersection warning signage with an associated advanced name (Forest Highlands) placard in each direction (north and south), approximately 600 feet in advance of the intersection.
Although it's not exactly what I was hoping for, it is something and every little thing helps. According to them there hasn't been enough crash concerns in that area to justify the cost of road improvements like lights, speed bumps, round a bout, etc. But my feeling is, isn't one fatality enough?
I plan to continue pushing for greater change including lowering the speed limit on that stretch of highway 89a.
Thank you everyone for your support in making a change.
Much love,
